Chin, Won-Suk
|
Born in Seoul in 1968, Chin Won-Suk came to the United States
in 1989 to study film at the School of Visual Arts in New York. While
working at a film distribution company in New York he wrote his first screenplay
Too
Tired To die, which is his directorial debut film. |
E, J-Yong
|
E J-Yong directed many short films including My Mother's Summer,
Time
in the Mirror. With his film Homo Videocus he won Prix
Recherche and Prix De La Jeunesse at Festival du Court Metrage de Clermont-Ferrand.
He also made the documentary Tales of a City (1994). An Affair
is his first feature length film. |
Hong, Sangsoo
|
Born in 1961, he studied film at Chung-Ang University, the California
Institute of Art in LA and the Chicago Institute of Art. In 1996,
he made his first feature The Day a Pig Fell into the Well which
was critically acclaimed. The Power of Kangwon Province is
his second feature film.

Hur, Jin-Ho
|
Hur studied at the Korean film Academy where he completed the acclaimed
short For Kochul. He worked as first assistant director for
two of Park Kwang-Su's features, To the Starry Island and A Single
Spark and co-wrote To the Starry island. Christmas
in August is his directorial debut.

Im, Kwon-Taek
|
Born in 1936.
His debut was Farewell, Dooman River! (1962)
He directed many famous films including The Genealogy (1978), The Hidden
Hero (1979), Mandala (1981), Gilsottum (1985), Ticket (1986), The General's
Son Series (1990, 1991, 1992), Fly High, Run Far (Kae Byok, 1991), Sopyoje
(1993), Surrogate Mother (1986), Adada (1988)The Taebaek Mountains
(1994), Festival (1996), Come Come Come Upward(1989), and many others.

Im, Sang-Soo
|
Born in Seoul in 1962, Im Sang-Soo majored in sociology at Yonsei University,
and also studied at the Korea Academy of film Art. He worked as an
assistant director for Kim's War (1994) and screenwriter for The
Eternal Empire. With A Noteworthy Film, he won the Creation
Prix at the Korean Motion Picture Promotion Scenario Competition in 1995.
Girls' Night Out is his directorial debut.

Jang, Hyun-Soo
|
Born in 1959. Jang Hyun-Soo was a film student at Chung-Ang University
and graduated from the Korean Film Academy. He made his debut with
Walking
All the Way to Heaven in 1992, which won Grand Bell Awards for the
Best New Director, Adaption, and Editing. His films included
Rules
of the Game (1994) and Born to Kill (1996). Scent of
a Man is his fourth feature film. |
Jang, Jin
|
Born in Seoul in 1971, Jang Jin graduated from Seoul Art Institute
and worked in theater as a playwriter, actor and director. His prolific
playwriting career include Clods, and Taxi Driver.
Chunho-dong
Old Intersection was awarded at the Chosun Ilbo Literature Competetion
in 1995. The Happenings is his first feature since his film
career as a screenwriter with A Hot Roof and Do you Believe in
Jazz?

Jang, Sun-Woo
|
Born in 1952. Graduated from Seoul National University.
His film career started as a directorial staff for a production in 1980.
In 1985, he co-directed Seoul Jesus with Sunwoo Wan. His directorial
dubut film was Success Era (1987). His feature films are Lovers in
Woomuk-Baemi (1990), Hwaomkyung (1993), To You From Me (1995), A Petal
(1996) etc. |
Kang, Woo-Suk
|
As a director, executive producer and distributor, Kang Woo-Suk has
been an important figure in the Korean film industry. His films deal
with social subject matter with a comedic touch, and are noted for their
commercial success. His reputation as a director began with the huge
commercial hit of the Two Cops series. Other films include School

Kim, Ji-Woon
|
Born in 1964, Kim Ji-Woon has worked for many years in the theater
since his theatrical debut Hot Sea. He began his film career
as a screenwriter with Wonderful Seasons in 1997 and next year The
Quiet Family was awarded at Cine 21 Scenario Competetion. The
Quiet Family is his directorial dubut film.

Kim, Ki-Duk
|
After returning to Korea in 1994 from France where he studied painting,
Kim Ki-Duk won the Creation Prix from the Scenarist Association with Painter
and Prisoner. The next year, with Illegal Crossing he
won Grand Prix at the Korean Motion Picture Promotion Scenario Competition.
Crocodile (1996) is his debut film and Birdcage Inn is his
third feature film. |

Lee, Kwangmo
|
Born in 1961, Lee Kwangmo majored in English at Korea University and
received an MFA from UCLA. He has written many shorts and feature
screenplays. Spring in My Hometown won the Hartley Merrill
Prize for best screenplay in 1995. He is currently a cinema professor
at Chung-Ang University.

Lee, Suh-Goon
|
Born in 1975, Lee Suh-Goon studied film at NYU. She was involved
in Park Chul-Soo's 301,302 as a screenwriter. With the short
film Suicide Party she won the Grand Prize at the Gold Crown Film
Festival. As a youngest woman director in Korea, Lee Suh-Goon
made her feature debut with Rub Love.

Min, Boung-Hun
|
Born in 1969, Min Boung-Hun received a BA and MFA from VGIK.
He worked as a cinematographer in such short films as Person (1995)
and Portrait (1996). His graduation project Bee Fly
is his directorial debut film. |
Moon, Seung-Wook
|
Moon Seung-Wook became reknowned in Korea with Mother and The
Old Plane which won awards at the 1st and 2nd Seoul Short Film Festival.
He studied at Lodz and studied with Krzysztof Kieslowski. He also
made the documentay The Master. As his first feature, Taekwondo
is a reconstruction of The Master.

Park, Ki-Hyung
|
Park Ki-Hyung worked as an assistant director for the films Dead
End and The Fox with 9 Tails. With his short film Great
Pretenders in 1996, he won Best Director Award at Gold Crown Film Festival
and Best Best Award at LA International Short Film Festival. Whispering
Corridors (1998) is his first feature film. |
Park, Kwang-Choon
|
A former film student at NYU, Park Kwang-Choon worked as an assistant
director for the film The Gingko Bed which experimented with special
effects. After studying New Media in the US, he showed his talent
for special effects with his directorial debut The Soul Guardians.

Yeo, Kyun-Dong
|
Born in 1958, Yeo Kyun-Dong majored in Philosophy at Seoul National
University. His craft is the pursuit of realism in every part of
art. He made his debut with Out of the World in 1994 and KillerStory
is his third film. His credits include To you From Me as actor
and Green Fish as a producer.
