<SYNOPSIS> Portrait
of Youth
Young-Hoon returns home after 2 year nomadic life since he quitted his
high school because he was astonished at the sight of his first love Jung-Nim,
older than himself, making love with a married man. When he comes
back home, he finds his mother died and his family members blame him for
what happened to their family.
He leaves home again and after passing the qualification exam for college
entrance, enters a college majoring in the Korean literature. His
college life is worse. He makes friends only with Ha Kyung-Kun of
the same Korean literature dept and Kim In-Chol of the history dept, who
share opinions about literature and life with Young-Hoon. And he
gets to know a coed Hye-Yeon, but he cannot proceed further on the relation
with her because of his memory about Jung-Nim. At last young-Hoon
and Hye-Yeon break up and Kyung-Kun dies at a demonstration site.
Young-Hoon leaves for another wandering life after the friend’s death and
the breakup with Hye-Yeon.
On his wandering travel, Young-Hoon meets Miss Yoon, a barmaid with
a pure heart. They start a long wandering trip with a sword-sharpener
who used to be a learned man, but now is full of revengeful thoughts.
